Tom was a fighter. Tom never gave up hope. Tom inspired greatness in the lives he touched. Tom lost his seven-year battle to colon cancer on May 26, 2004. And Tom was my brother. One of Tom’s unrealized dreams was to ride his motorcycle, a Suzuki Bandit 1200, around the United States in order to raise money for cancer research—and to raise awareness of the need for cancer treatment that is specific to an individual’s need. It is my intention to see that his dream is realized, albeit on a smaller scale—to start. Every summer in July, his wife Laurie, his daughter Mariah, and I (and likely a few others) will be taking a three-day motorcycle ride through New England (and New York) in his honor. As there are a multitude of organizations already raising money for cancer research, I decided to put the focus on the cancer survivors, who are often overlooked in cancer fundraising efforts. Please take a few moments to browse through this site, read the stories, and consider making a donation in Tom’s memory. And if you’d like to help promote Tom’s Ride, you can download the flyer and brochure, both of which are PDF files. Thank you for visiting. Web site creation by Tom’s brother, Joe Grunske |
